ALTERNATIVE PROVISION
CREATIVE SESSIONS FOR YOUNG PEOPLE
These sessions support young people who find traditional school environments challenging and benefit from a creative, movement-based approach. Using structured but flexible movement, sessions help build confidence, self-expression, emotional regulation, and engagement.

Creative movement and dance are widely recognised as effective for children and young people with SEND and SEMH needs, including anxiety, attention difficulties, and challenges with classroom learning. Purposeful movement supports focus, self-regulation, and readiness to learn, while dance also develops coordination, memory, and creativity. Schools and alternative provision settings often see improvements in confidence, communication, and participation — particularly for pupils who struggle with desk-based or highly verbal learning.

Suitable for home-educated young people, those in alternative provision, or children who find attendance or engagement in mainstream education difficult, these sessions offer an accessible and motivating alternative and can support EHCP outcomes.

Sessions are tailored to the individual and may include creative movement, games, and expressive activities. Delivered in a calm, supportive environment, young people are encouraged to move at their own pace, make choices, and experience success without pressure — helping them build resilience and reconnect with learning.
Sessions focus on:

-
Confidence and self-belief
-
Creativity and self-expression
-
Coordination and body awareness
-
A safe, inclusive environment
Sessions are available 1:1 or in small groups.
